A letter from someone threatening to take me to court, because I haven’t paid for something he hasn’t sent me. Nice conversation with man in question, promised to send me correct information. Not holding out too much hope, but maybe third time lucky?
A bill from the tax office, asking for money that I owe them for the last tax year, only I haven’t put in my tax return yet (I know, but I’m almost there). Nice conversation with woman who told me that someone else’s tax return has ended up under my name, someone who is employed, married and rents property by the sound of it, none of which applies to me. Told me not to worry, someone will call me by the end of the week to clear it all up.
Oh and lots of junk mail. So I have decided to write to all the companies that send me junk along with actual important stuff and ask them not to.

[…] Now I want to do my tax return, I can’t. Having agreed that whoever’s tax return they had under my name, was obviously wrong, my tax office assured me that it would all be sorted out and I wouldn’t have to do anything else. So it’s a week later and I’m at that stage where I’ve almost got all the info I need and I thought I’d login to start filling out the form, but I hadn’t thought about this; the online system is saying that I’ve already completed my return and hence I can’t fill it out again (no second chances). What was that about not having to do anything else? I spoke to Alex at the tax office who looked through my details and agreed that it was taking a bit of time and promised to send an urgent message.* He said I’d have good recourse if I got it in late, well jeez thanks… I said that I could do without the stress and I’d have to charge them for the work it would involve, he laughed, sort of. He said this happened now and then… inspires confidence in the ’system’ is there a system?** […]
