Taxingly Ironic
Now I want to do my tax return, I can’t. Having agreed that whoever’s tax return they had under my name, was obviously wrong, my tax office assured me that it would all be sorted out and I wouldn’t have to do anything else. So it’s a week later and I’m at that stage where I’ve almost got all the info I need and I thought I’d login to start filling out the form, but I hadn’t thought about this; the online system is saying that I’ve already completed my return and hence I can’t fill it out again (no second chances). What was that about not having to do anything else? I spoke to Alex at the tax office who looked through my details and agreed that it was taking a bit of time and promised to send an urgent message.* He said I’d have good recourse if I got it in late, well jeez thanks… I said that I could do without the stress and I’d have to charge them for the work it would involve, he laughed, sort of. He said this happened now and then… inspires confidence in the ‘system’, is there a system?**
*Will take two days; interesting idea of urgent.
** Actually I don’t want there to be a system.

Yeah, Adam Hart Davies is popping on posters all over the place reminding us it’s time to cough up isn’t he? I can no longer look at that man without getting an ache in the pit of my wallet.
