Sugar free

I spent quite a lot of yesterday in a bit of a panic searching London chemists (which I have just realized I spent the day calling pharmacy’s), for a sugar-free-coated* version of a certain common antibiotic. For some reason this was very hard, I think I covered 10 chemists in about five different areas, there was extreme relief expressed when I found a chemist who had them. Why do company’s think I need to have sugar on everything, including a pill I am going to swallow? The weirdest part was calling the company name on the packet to ask who stocked their product, the person who answered the phone just kept repeating that she was not allowed to tell me anything, as if she’d signed the official secrets act.

*I don’t think my stomach likes sugar coated pills; there’s a certain brand of ibuprofen I just can’t get on with and that’s the only explanation I have come up with.
