At about 1am my bedroom swayed from side to side and my bed shook. I didn’t know what was happening and was frightened. I texted a friend, who doesn’t sleep well so might be awake, saying that my bed had shaken twice and was I mad? She didn’t reply - thanks, O. Then I switched on the radio. Nothing on R4 or World Service, but on Classic FM the presenter said there had been an earthquake and invited people to email their experience. By then I was excited, couldn’t sleep and wanted to speak to someone so I sent loads of texts, even abroad, but no reply. Everyone else slept through it - or had their phone switched off. So I phoned my friends in Sydney…but they were out. So I phoned my friends in Washington State, but they had urgent kid stuff to deal with. I didn’t fall asleep until at least 4am…
That’s funny. I felt it, thought it was a bit odd and went to bed. I didn’t think anything more until I switched on the radio in the morning to be told there had been an earthquake… then I thought; wow, my first earthquake. Normally, I do seem to miss these things…

Well, I think they often happen at about 1am and around full moon - so it was about 6 days late!

Did Sandy behave strangely? Often animals know these things are happening before we do.

Was trying to remember, but I don’t think she did - or not enough for me to pick up on it.
