My teeth hurt

Any connection with my teeth hurts. Imagine a wire wrapped around a tooth and someone pulling it, then multiply the feeling – gush, I hear you saying, that sounds rather like a form of torture, not something you’d pay for…

Well as consolation and to take my mind off it, I’ve placed the order for the camera. However, the first place I tried although their website said they had some, they had sold out, they recommended two other places, but neither of them had any left either. As I can’t phone the place I’ve ordered it from, I’m trying not to get too excited until it’s dispatched after the weekend, until then I’m not going to be convinced they actually have one in stock.

I made the mistake of taking a look at some comments about it and they range from fantastic to every picture comes out blurry. I should learn not to read these things.

Gappy future

I had my Ortho appointment today, I’d been looking forward to it in an odd sort of I want to get this thing moving way. He changed both wires. I now have much thicker square wires, apparently square wires can’t slip. They are supposed to open my mouth out and I can expect to get some gaps, in fact my two front teeth, which have always been packed tight together already have a gap between them, in 5 hours! And I don’t have to go back for three months… All rather sore right now, although I did manage to eat.

I have also decided finally on a digital camera, which has been such a long saga. I went to have a look at the new model I thought I was going to get, luckily I was in Selfridges and their photo department is in the basement. When I tested the camera it needed the flash and seemed very slow. They had one of the camera’s I was going to get before and I compared the two and the old model is so much better – seems to be faster and feels much more comfortable to hold – Judy I’ve finally decided for sure, just in time I hope.

Blogiversary

Frizz is a year and one day old. I’ve enjoyed the blogging thing. It’s now the longest diary of any sort I’ve kept. It’s been a great place to rant, remember and document. It’s been interesting to see what grabs attention, braces being by far the most popular recently. It’s made me think about some of the things I’ve done, instead of just saying, next. It’s reminded me to take photographs. I’ve even learnt a bit of html and updated my geek gene. It’s introduced me to other blog’s, which I’ve enjoyed reading and which have informed me about life, art, politics and OK some gossip too. And it’s meant I’ve been a little bit ‘out there’, which has been a big deal and feels so good. So a very big thank you to those who are still reading and for all the encouraging words.

What did I say…

It must have been the apple the other day cos it happened again… there I was carefully chomping away when something felt very wrong. I rushed upstairs to check in the mirror and the wire looked rather wonky and very bent. Luckily even though it looked worse than last time I managed, with much relief, to flip it back – I’ve learnt my lesson, no more apples for me. If an archwire can get a weakness, mine seems to have one.

I’ve put a new heading in the sidebar for topics… the first being, but of course, braces. It takes you to a Blogger search result, at the moment it’s the only way I can think of doing it – alternative suggestions welcome.

Braces, what again? Again?

I thought it was about time for a braces update – Bruce especially for you!

Since I last enlightened you I’ve had a wire pop out – I don’t know how this happened, but I’ve been assured by both the Ortho and his assistant that it won’t happen again once I move onto the next wire – I’m not sure whether I should be pleased or worried, does thicker wire equal pain? It took the Ortho all of 2 seconds to ‘pop’ it back – it’s all in the knowing how.

Yesterday the same bit of wire became convex (from my mouths point of view) – pulling all my teeth the wrong way – I thought I had overdone it munching on an apple (cut up small, I couldn’t even think of biting into a whole one). This time I managed on my own to flip it back, which was a relief, because it was starting to get very painful, amazing how much and how quickly it changed the pressure.

On the subject of bite turbos – I seem to have eaten off all the stuff he put on to build them up – so am back to square one, being careful not to bite off the brackets. Things are changing though and in certain positions my teeth finally meet. My stomach is happy – less indigestion.

Still lisping, I don’t think it’s something I’m going to get used to, but otherwise all fine.

Wire change, here’s hoping, in a couple of weeks… Bruce I promise, no more braces talk until then… unless something drastic happens.

It’s a miracle

I woke up to feel two of my back teeth meeting for the first time in three weeks. I thought I’d broken a bracket at first, but no it seems that while I slept my bite rather drastically changed. No pain doesn’t have to mean no gain.

Uber-lisp

Argh! He made the bite turbos bigger (Quote; “I’ve never had to do this before”)…. so much for losing the lisp. Now I’m really afraid to open my mouth. Good news though, I think I’m no longer hitting the braces, you’d think. As a consolation I’ve just splashed out on some business card making software… I realised with all my meetings the other week it was a bit silly not having a card. My card can speak for me – so cheesy.

Lisp

Well, no reprieve from the lisp as the Ortho was away all last week, I’m there on Tuesday. I’m actually getting used to the bite turbos, but they are still too high, the only time they are useful is at night when I put wax underneath them to help prevent me from accidentally biting a bracket off in my sleep, although the fear of doing exactly that is not conducive to a good nights sleep and as a result I’m kinda tired. The braces themselves haven’t been hurting at all, and working on the no pain, no gain theory, I’m wondering if anything is going on in there.

PS. the baby food, with a bit of seasoning, was actually OK. My new favorite meal is backed potato with mashed up avocado and yogurt – honestly it tastes good and no chewing needed.

No bite

I rang the Ortho’s office first thing and they told me to hang in there, but I really don’t like having something stuck in my mouth that’s not really doing anything… I lisped through AT and now I’m going to lisp through science class. I talk and I sound so strange to myself that it completely puts me off and I forget what I’m saying. I know it will get better, it would just be easier if the bite turbos were actually working.

I bought baby food today; organic vegetables with Quinoa and Apple and Quince… I’ll let you know what they taste like… this is a sorry state of affairs.

The West Wing; two episodes in a row is fine, three is too much.

Schools out

After all the rushing, it’s time for a lazy day.

A phone call from a friend I haven’t spoken to in, like a year, I merrily lisped away. It’s four O’clock and I’m not dressed yet. I’ve watched the first two episodes of series five of The West Wing (hell it’s good), I’ve killed a moth, I know, I wasn’t going to. The stoppers [bite turbos] on the back of my teeth now aren’t stopping anything, just being annoying and my front teeth are hitting the lower braces, I don’t know whether to call my Ortho now or see if by tomorrow it’s ok again… I managed to eat; banana, soup, and yogurt, but my lower teeth are sore, like someone has been trying to knock them out with a hammer.

I’m off to the supermarket in search of soft food. Suggestions welcome.
