In the weather
I rang up A yesterday who was brave and or mad enough to come with Sandy and I out for a walk in the rain and the wind, we all got soaked, but it was glorious…

Orange have started charging for itemized billing… I’ve always been impressed by the fact that they didn’t charge, it’s even been one of the reasons for sticking with them. It’s a small thing, but small things count. Anyway so this guy tried to tell me the reason they were charging was to save the environment… Well I kinda lost my top, because if they were really doing things to ‘save the environment’ I’d be happy, but he was telling me this, whilst I was holding my crisp white paper bill, with it’s pointless top page, which in turn had come out of a similarly crisp white envelope. And I’m carrying around my new mobile phone, which their policy encouraged me to buy when my old one still works, whose packaging, with it’s numerous plastic bags (even small ones count) is still hanging around the house. So I lost my top because I want these companies to start doing things environmentally and when they have a consistent policy I’ll be happy, but if they are going to use the ‘environment argument’ as an excuse to make more money out of me, I’m going to be angry.
I felt the earthquake… did you?
I seem to have a car… S and I went to test drive it this morning – both of us thinking something was bound to be wrong. For a few minutes I thought I heard a guy say the car wasn’t there yet, but it was and was actually in the condition I was told it was going to be in – a first in this whole saga – so yippee – doing a little dance – I have a car, well I don’t actually have it yet, but almost. And yes there is a bit of me that is frustrated that I even need a car – but I do.
I rang the car salesman this morning, just to make sure it was OK to get excited about the car….
Yippy! I hit the send button on my tax return… managed it a little earlier this year… Nothing like being stuck without a car for making me sit down to finish it.
S and I said goodbye to the car today. Clearing it out we found a bag of change that must have been there all this time, so we saw Charlie Wilson’s War on my Dad. And amazing how things work out… there was this car I thought I’d bought just after the holidays and then there was a big mix up and they, well a salesman, his manager, and the regional sales buyer, have been trying to sort it out, I think it became a principle thing for them and today the salesman called to say I can have the car… So fingers crossed I’ll have a car with heating next week.
My car needs a new radiator and as it’s going to cost more than the car is worth, I decided with some encouragement from S, to call it a day.
That my car broke down, but I missed the congestion zone by two roads… something anyway.
I really haven’t been upset to say goodbye to 2007… I was already writing 2008 on Monday… 2008 having a nice ring to it, but in the last 24 hours I’ve heard some really sad news from two friends… sometimes silence doesn’t mean things are OK.
